Quasi hit Hulu back in April and I hadn’t really any idea what it was about, except it was by the same comedy team behind Super Troopers. It’s been a quite a number of years since they’ve had a movie and critics weren’t too big on this one, but it was better received by fans.

I was a bit shocked that this is basically a take on The Hunchback of Notre Dame. I figured they could have done something way more original than that.

The big twist of the movie versus other versions of the story is the King of France asks Quasimodo to kill the Pope while he’s in Paris.

And the Pope asks Quasimodo to do the same thing to the monarch of France right, before the Hunchback was contemplating whether or not he should take down the “holiest” Catholic.

The only person (besides Quasimodo) that’s even remotely decent in their heart is the Queen Consort t of France. The English-born Queen Catherine takes quite a bit of pity on Quasimodo especially when her husband gives him a ultimatum where he will lose no matter what he chooses.

Quasi is a decent comedy by Broken Lizard but it’s definitely the worst film they’ve done. It’s not super funny, even if you were watching this on 4/20, wink wink. Probably the best part of the movie is the King of France and the Pope secretly trying to kill each other. 10 years from now I doubt anybody is really going to be firing up Hulu to play this one.
