The Marvels was an absolute failure at the box office last year. And I will admit, that I was one of the people not excited for it because the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t done a lot to counter the superhero fatigue of its audience. But my wife wanted to watch it on Disney+ and I will say I was surprisingly shocked by how good it was.

The Marvels takes place moments after Ms. Marvel’s season 1 finale ended. Carol Danvers ends up in Kamala Khan’s bedroom while the young superhero is nowhere to be seen.

As the new villain of the movie Dar-Benn has found the other bracelet that matches Kamala Khan’s bangle and has implemented some trickery to it.

But Dar-Benn is the new leader of the Kree Empire, which is dying. With her new bracelet and Ronan’s old hammer, she’s more than prepared to fight Captain Marvel in a battle.

I will say that one of the most delightful things about The Marvels is Ms. Marvel. Kamala Khan fan girling over her idol was pretty cute.

Monica Rambeau makes her superhero debut after getting her powers at the end of Wandavision. I will say she’s definitely in the weakest of the three in terms of how important her powers were.

Nick Fury (despite what happened in Secret Invasion) is back to his cool self. And his monster alien cat friend is too, LOL.

It is a bit of a shame that the Marvels was one of the worst-performing films in the MCU when it came to the Silver Screen. It’s a remarkably beautiful film (the best I’ve seen so far on my new 4K television) and it’s just a lot of fun to enjoy. I would also like to compliment Tom Hiddleston’s fiancee Zawe Ashton for being the villain Dar-Benn. She was mostly made up for the MCU entirely, and I really enjoyed her performance.
