The Witcher 3 has been out for ages now from its original platform and its Nintendo Switch port isn’t exactly fresh news either. I bought it on sale last year and finally got around to playing it. I haven’t been this disappointed by a game in a very long time.

I actually really love the Netflix series despite them fumbling with the latest changes, especially recasting Henry Cavill. The story makes a lot of sense if you’ve watched all the seasons, though they’re not entirely accurate together.

I heard the game gave you a lot of choices on where your path would lead and even the romances you could blossom. So my plan was to get Geralt together with Yennefer of Vengerberg at the very end. Especially as video game Yennefer reminds me a lot of my wife in appearance.

Just like the Netflix series, the plot of the game is when Princess Ciri gets herself targeted by some weird group of evil beings. But funny enough, Geralt doesn’t seem to be much in a rush to go solve that problem…

I wouldn’t call the world massive (hard to after The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) but it’s definitely a very open-ended game and reminds me a lot of the old Fable games on Xbox.

And there’s a lot of talking with non playable characters. Kind of reminds me of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic but those conversations were actually fun and interesting.

My biggest problem with the game is it’s just kind of boring. Played for several hours and it just never got any better. I also don’t think the graphics are very appealing in my opinion. The world that Geralt adventures in is rather dirty and disgusting.

Combine that with combat that is needlessly complicated and sluggish to execute, I gave up despite giving the game a few more hours to pick up. Witcher 3 has a MASSIVE fanbase that very well had contributed to Netflix picking up a series based on the books, but color me unimpressed.
