Things I Like: Inigo Montoya (The Princess Bride)

Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride 1987 film

Ingio Montoya is most definitely (and by far) one of the best characters on The Princess Bride. His quotes are still legendary on the internet today.

He starts in the story not as admirable, as he’s just a hired goon in a very nefarious plot. He doesn’t agree with his boss, but nevertheless takes the coin to do so.

Having a pretty cool sword duel with Westley as a result.

For which Ingio Montoya loses but he’s managed to be knocked out and not seriously injured.

Which is a good thing because he becomes Westley’s greatest benefactor after he’s captured and tortured to death. Then miraculously revived from kinda dead/ slightly aliveness.

And one of the most satisfying parts of the movie is when he gets the long awaited sword duel against the man who killed his father.

Which is pretty awesome, especially as he loses the upper hand in the first part of the duel but his rage allows him to be the victorious underdog.
