Westley is the very best part of The Princess Bride. Cary Elwes knocked it out of the park with his performance and I’m surprised his career didn’t skyrocket after this. He got some notable roles (including Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Men in Tights) but he should have been a AAA actor.

I thought his story of being a simple farm boy turned fearsome pirate for the sake of making a name for himself was impressive. Which made it possible so he could get his love back, which is pretty cool.

And it’s hard to know exactly what he did on those years at sea, but he definitely became quite the force to reckon with. Sword master, climbing guru, and poison immuner.

And he makes it just in time to save Princess Buttercup from certain doom.

But he gets captured himself and becomes slightly alive… or is it mostly dead?

And when he’s revived back to the living, he’s mostly useless when it comes to fighting or walking. But he uses his wits to actually outsmart Prince Humperdinck and capture him instead of the other way around.

And him and Princess Buttercup presumably have a happy ending. I kind of wonder if they went to a different kingdom or spent a life at sea being faux pirates.
