Old Myrtle is one of the minor characters on NBC’s Superstore. She comes and goes, likely because her actress—who sadly passed away—probably didn’t want to work long hours.

Nearly every retail establishment has its own “Myrtle”—someone who should have retired 20 years ago but keeps working for some inexplicable reason. These employees are often ignored, blending into the background.

Unfortunately, Myrtle gets laid off when upper management realizes she’s the highest-paid employee in the store despite contributing little to the bottom line.

Jeff, in a misguided attempt to fix things, assumes everyone wants Myrtle back and creates a hologram of her. He would have been better off finding a way to get her paid this way instead of stealing her likeness.

Ironically, the real Myrtle shows up, sees her hologram, and is actually quite charmed by it. Still, Jeff definitely did her wrong.
