Newman’s Own was created by Paul Newman in the 1980s. The company’s first product was salad dressing, which Paul Newman made himself.
The company donates its after-tax profits to charity, focusing on work that benefits children.
Some of their earliest products included spaghetti sauce, lemonade, popcorn, fruit cocktail juices, frozen pizza, salsa, and grape juice.
Their packaging is often humorous, with their first labeling saying “Fine Food Since February.” They would also include stories on the packages that were completely fabricated.
Paul Newman’s daughter, Nell, produced a separate division of the company focused on organic items, but it was eventually absorbed back into the main Newman’s Own brand.
After Paul Newman’s death, Robert Forrester became the CEO of Newman’s Own. Paul Newman’s family claimed that the new CEO pushed the family out of the organization. While Forrester claimed he was just following Paul Newman’s wishes, he was later ousted as CEO for inappropriate behavior.
The salad dressing were sold over here but I don’t think anything else was!
