The Secret World of Alex Mack was a fairly notable Nickelodeon show back in the day. But the kids who grew up watching it are adults now, and it’s gotten stored away in their forgotten memory cells. I remember being really into the program.

Granted, about 3 decades later, I can’t remember much about what was going on in the show. Alexandra “Alex” Mack was a typical girl.

Until an “evil capitalist organization” started polluting a bit too much, and she got hit by some weird chemical.

Instead of giving her cancer — like it probably would have in real life — it gave her superpowers. She could shoot sparks of electricity from her fingertips, much like Palpatine from Star Wars, but not nearly as deadly or lethal.

I also remember her ability to turn herself into a puddle of water or something like that. She was supposed to keep her powers a secret, especially because the company that inadvertently gave her those powers would probably want to use her as a lab rat.

I’m sure it hasn’t aged well since the 1990s, but The Secret World of Alex Mack has a special place in my heart. It will only become more forgotten as time goes on, and virtually nobody from the show went on to become a superstar by any means of the imagination.
