Captain Phasma (I assume) was intended to be the Boba Fett of the Star Wars sequel trilogy — a mysterious warrior hidden beneath a mask, with an air of intrigue but not much revealed about her. She was portrayed by the very talented Gwendoline Christie, who I personally knew better as Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones. Unfortunately, her legacy as a character was largely ruined by poor writing and direction.

Phasma serves as the leader of the Stormtroopers, answering to General Hux, Kylo Ren, and, technically, Supreme Leader Snoke.

The sequel trilogy didn’t give her many standout moments. In fact, she ended up feeling more like a background character than she should have been, despite her striking appearance.

Her shiny chrome armor and apparent skill with blasters were undeniably cool, but her storyline essentially ends in The Last Jedi, where she attempts to take revenge on Finn — only for him to somehow miraculously gain the upper hand.

The films never took the time to properly flesh out her character or backstory. To make matters worse, a fairly important scene of hers was cut from The Last Jedi, adding insult to injury.

While her defeat is clear, her actual death is left ambiguous, which only makes her story feel more frustrating and less impactful.
It’s amazing how many Star Wars stories there are; most of which I know nothing about … though I do like Gwendoline Christie.
