In most playthroughs of the video game NieR: Automata, the nefarious (and male) Eve serves as the final boss. He was a decent antagonist, but I think he could have been a more compelling villain overall.

We first encounter him in that bizarre desert scene, and then again a bit later in an area seemingly built by the same creators who made him—or something like that. Honestly, it wasn’t a particularly fun boss fight, especially since they set it up so that 2B doesn’t really stand a chance against him at that point.

After 2B kills Adam as revenge for kidnapping 9S, Eve spirals into a deep depression and goes full drama queen.

Then comes the real final boss battle, which plays out in several phases and gets increasingly over-the-top in terms of his power level.

I’m glad I played it on a fairly easy difficulty, because I don’t think he would’ve been a pushover on a harder one. Still, it felt rewarding to finally send him to his doom.
