Laurie Strode, while not appearing in every Halloween movie, is definitely the main hero in most people’s opinions. Jamie Lee Curtis was so young back then too. It’s hard to believe how much has changed since this horror classic was new.

In the original movie, she was a young adult babysitting some kids on Halloween. A typical story for a woman her age in the 1970s. Nothing could go wrong, right?

Wrong. A serial killer wearing an inside-out Captain Kirk mask starts killing people for no reason, and somehow, she miraculously survives. Well, Sam Loomis shooting Michael Myers did help, I’ll say that.

But then it turns out she was his biological sister, and Michael had some curse that made him want to kill his entire family. Which is a bit odd, to say the very least. Then they kill off her character in the fourth film in a car crash and give her daughter the spotlight.

But then they retcon it. She survives, then she dies again. Then they retcon it again, she survives… and dies? I don’t know. I haven’t seen the newer movies. But she’s definitely one of the best and most memorable horror protagonists of all time.
