Fun Facts and Trivia About The Video Game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee

Fun facts trivia and things you never knew about the video game Oddworld Abe's Odyssey PlayStation PS1

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was a big game on the PlayStation 1, but it was also available for Windows, and there was even a version made for MS-DOS. There were plans for a Sega Saturn version, but it was canceled.

The game has multiple endings, with the saving of Mudokon characters being key in determining whether you get a better ending or a bad ending. Saving 99 is the perfect ending for the game.

The code name for the game was Soul Storm.

Similar to Nintendo’s Mario, Abe was a working-class character, but this time he was an alien floor waxer first class.

The Japanese version of the game is called Abe a GoGo. In Japan, they had to change his four-fingered hands to three fingers in later games because Japanese mafia (Yakuza) members are infamous for having four-fingered hands.

Abe was made to be cowardly without muscle to contrast typical heroes of the 90s.

There was a Game Boy version called Oddworld Adventures.

The game was made with about 4 million dollars, but it was advertised with 10 million dollars.

Lorne Lanning voices nearly all the characters, from Abe himself to NPCs.

An executive at GT Interactive didn’t like the game’s direction and tried to shut it down. But when his colleagues saw some footage, they gave the game more funding.

There was a remake in 2014 called Oddworld: New ’n’ Tasty, but it used the original mostly as a blueprint.
