Things I Like: 2nd & Charles (Greenville SC)

2nd & Charles is one of my wife’s and my favorite stores. She was technically the one who introduced me to it, but anyone who has ever driven down Laurens Road in Greenville, South Carolina, can’t really ignore it. It really stands out. I later found out that it’s owned by the same company as Books-A-Million and actually used to be one.

It’s very similar to a Barnes & Noble or a Books-A-Million, but with more toys and a much larger selection of used items than new ones. My son almost gets overwhelmed with joy from all the things he sees as he walks with us.

They have toys, collectibles, books, video games, accessories, knickknacks, DVDs, and probably a few things I’m forgetting. They definitely have a large selection of Funkos if you’re into that kind of thing. Those toy collectibles are definitely a love-it-or-hate-it kind of deal.

The reason my son especially loves this place is because he knows he’s going to get a toy before he leaves, since Mama is a sucker. He originally wanted this dinosaur but then found a cooler T-Rex.

Which he brought with him when we went to Dollar Tree and McDonald’s later. At both of those places, there were boys his age who passed by and looked at him with clear envy.

  1. What a cool store. I would have chosen the T-Rex, too.

There’s one on the outskirts of Chicago and I like the store as well. Alexander made a great choice of dinosaurs!
