Living in Greenville, South Carolina, our winters are usually pretty mild compared to other parts of the country, especially the Northeast. It is never exactly warm, but it is rare for us to get snow. Then, quite recently, we had two weekends in a row that was hyped like a snowmageddon by Southern standards. Everyone freaked out, bought tons of food and generators, and it turned out nobody really needed any of it. One of the local meteorologists, Chris Justus, in my opinion, is an exaggerating little turd who knows how to manipulate the Upstate to increase his station’s ratings rather than report the weather truthfully. We had notable winter weather, but nothing that he was claiming. It came, and it melted by the next day.

The first time, it was mostly sleet and ice, but no power went out. We spent one day “stuck” at the house, but the next day we went to the grocery store, grabbed some lunch next door, and went home as everything had mostly melted.

The following weekend, we actually had real snow, and it came down hard. Yet again, there were no power outages, just slight inconveniences. My son Alex learned how to throw a snowball, and I will tell you what, Alexander was very hard to convince to go back inside after that, even with a lot of the snow already melted.

Glad the storm wasn’t what the forecasters expected. When we lived in DC, I remember the city coming to a halt with a half inch of snow.
That’s a lot of snow! We really don’t see the likes over here in Scotland! 😀
It’s been brutal in Northern Indiana this winter. As soon as I shovel my drive and turn around to go back in the house, it needs shoveled again. I’m so sick of it.
