I decided to take the kids to Runway Park at the Greenville Downtown Airport not far from home not long ago. I had heard about it for years, but it’s actually a pretty awesome place. My stepdaughter Lily has been here a few times with her biological dad, but this was mine and Alex’s first time.

Since conquering my fear of flying in 2025, I really appreciate this place and think it’s especially cute now that I love aviation. The middle of the park is like a mini runway that most kids use for bikes and scooters. From most spots in the park, you can see the small planes at the downtown airport take off and land.

The park has two sizable playgrounds and a complete circular walkway as well. The kids had so much fun running around and playing. Alex did a great job trying to keep up with his big sister too.

My son’s favorite thing was a blue metal plane that lets kids feel like they’re flying their own airplane through imagination. It reminded me of the fair rides I used to go on as a kid that were painted like a colorful World War II fighter plane and had a pretend machine gun on the back.
Fun times, adorable kids Adam! – Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
It looks like a lot of fun and so cool to be able to see the planes at the airport from there. Glad there were no machine guns for the kids.
Looks like fun Adam. Alexander always looks so happy in his photos. Happy wee boy and he is your double 😀
What a cute little park. I can see why the kids like it so much!
