Our Visit To Maccaro Charleston (South Carolina)

Maccaro Coffee shop downtown Charleston South Carolina

Maccaro Charleston is a small cafe we stumbled into after leaving the Natural History Museum at the College of Charleston. We mainly went in to escape the rain, but my wife was immediately drawn to the place. It heavily advertises bubble tea, which I thought was the main thing they served, but I was quite wrong.

They have plenty of pastries and other items to eat, along with coffee and a variety of beverages. I am never really tempted to get something to eat at Starbucks, but I will admit that their baked items here actually looked pretty good.

Alex and I did not really want anything since we had already eaten before going to the museum. He is too young for coffee, and I just cannot stand it. I am also not into the whole bubble tea thing. That said, I really liked the interior of the place, especially the chairs and tables. It seems to be owned by an Asian American family, and a lot of their culture is beautifully reflected throughout the shop.

My wife ordered a coffee and a macaron, and I think my stepdaughter got a bubble tea. I believe they both enjoyed what they had, so if we are ever in the same area of Charleston again, I would not be surprised if they want to stop in. We do not visit Charleston very often though, so it will probably be another year before we are back.
