I had no idea Butler Springs Park existed in Greenville, South Carolina until my son was invited to a fairly casual birthday party for one of his friends from his 3K preschool class named Thomas. It’s a tiny little park, but they have an outdoor playground and a covered area for events where you can sit down and eat. Another party was actually using the covered area that day instead of the party we were invited to.

It’s a cute little playground, but honestly nothing too special. Alex had a lot of fun, and Lily got to tag along too. They played together while Alex also spent time with a couple of his preschool friends.

Thomas’s parents set up a picnic table so the kids could enjoy snacks while everyone came together to celebrate Thomas turning four years old.

Then came the event all the kids were most excited about, the piñata filled with candy. I actually never got to do one of those as a kid, so I liked seeing Alex get the chance to experience it. It’s been about two years since we’ve been to a birthday party that had a piñata. Alex was near the end of the line when it was finally his turn to swing at it, but he was actually the first kid to knock candy out of it.
Sounds like a good park for a party for little ones. Easier to keep an eye on them.Good going, Alex! I have never ever whacked at a piñata. Not something we had at parties when I was a kid. I’ve seen loads since, but always as an adult. One friend got them every year for their first son (who’s now 10). She filled it herself (with tons of glitter, too). He whacked it in the living room. And her OCD husband, also our friend, immediately got the vacuum cleaner out. It made him nuts every year. (Me, too.)
