A little while ago, my son went to his regular dentist for a checkup and cleaning, and I decided to take both kids on a little fun day afterward. Our first stop was Planet Comics, mostly because it was on the way and I wanted to see what the place was about. It’s located on Woodruff Road in Greenville, South Carolina, which is an extremely busy road with heavy traffic, so you usually don’t just take a casual drive down there. You have to go in with a plan.

I was actually very surprised by how small the place is. It’s the smallest comic book store I’ve visited in the Upstate South Carolina area. The vast majority of their inventory is traditional comic books, with a surprisingly large amount of Vampirella stuff for some reason. Not that I’m complaining.

They do have some merchandise and toys, but that section is pretty small compared to the rest of the store. I ended up getting both my son and my stepdaughter a little toy on the way out, so they were happy. That said, since I’m not really a traditional comic book reader, I don’t think I’ll be going back to Planet Comics very often in the future. Still, it’s definitely a pretty cool shop, especially if you’re mainly there to buy traditional comic books.
