Anthea was a major character in the second Shazam movie, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, in the DC Extended Universe. This was the first time I saw Rachel Zegler in a movie, and I liked her performance here. The film was released just a little before she was announced as the next Snow White in the live-action remake, which received a large backlash due to the fact that she’s Latina and not portrayed by a Caucasian woman with pale white skin and ebony black hair.

When we first see her in the movie, we think she’s just some kind of normal girl. She becomes the romantic interest of one of Billy’s friends, and we think that’s all there is to it. Sure enough, she’s directly related to the two main antagonists of the entire film.

She is actually their sister, with all three being daughters of the great Titan god Atlas. It really raises the question of why they look the way they do, considering they’re sisters with different races and apparent ages. Do they have different mothers? How long does it take for them to age? There are a lot of good questions here.

I vaguely remember her special power, which was the ability to rearrange environments or something like that. I think it also had some kind of teleportation properties. It was pretty cool watching it on the silver screen, but I’ve kind of forgotten the details now.

She becomes the only sister to survive by the end of the film. I think she may have even lost her powers, which makes it easier for her to continue her crush with Billy’s friend. With the DCEU officially over, it’s safe to say this character will probably never appear in another movie. That doesn’t necessarily mean Rachel Zegler is officially done with superhero movies, but given her reputation, it will be interesting to see if another studio gives her a major role.
