Like Germany, Japan was proposed to be occupied by multiple nations after World War II was over. The United States had a huge stake since they did most of the fighting and winning against Japan during the war. The Soviet Union declared war on Japan at the last minute, and Joseph Stalin didn’t fight the United States much over Japan as he wanted to focus on spreading communism in Europe.
