While I liked his story and season, he was a person I loved to hate. Having Peter Pan be a bad guy instead of a good one was a pretty neat twist.
Having him actually be the father of Rumpelstiltskin was an even better one. He was originally Malcolm, who gives up his son Rumple for eternal youth.
Though it’s not so much eternal, as he knew he’d need Henry’s heart to cement his immortality long before Henry was even born. He manages to trick him and most of the heroes.
Despite being as powerful as the Dark One, we rarely see him use much magic on the offense. But he does freeze all the powerful heroes without much effort.
Which causes Mr. Gold to take himself out with his father to the next life.
I was surprised to see him return in the Underworld though it makes sense. He tries to ally with Rumple but his son isn’t too keen on it.
And he finds out how bitter Rumple really was as Mr. Gold tricks him by making him touch the magic water which sent him to a much worse place than Hades’ version of Storybrooke.
