Gebel was a big disappointment to me. I know they based him heavily on Alucard from Castlevania but I was expecting something more epic.

He seems to be the main force of evil in the magic castle.

And the final showdown between him and Miriam has a good setting.

Since Ritual of the Night just kind of pretends that Curse of the Moon did AND didn’t happen, they have some backstory between Gebel and Miriam that I had a hard time following.

His battle is pretty easy.

If you defeat him, the game ends suddenly.

Like most Metroidvanias, there’s a true ending. So you have to use the right sword to destroy the moon and that unlocks the true ends of the game.

But Gebel still perishes anyway, What a waste of potential.
