Things I Like: Robin (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate)

Robin has been in the series since Smash 4. I don’t remember playing much as Robin on the WiiU, but I gave the character a good amount of time with Ultimate on Switch.

The character is from Fire Emblem: Awakening on Nintendo 3DS. Which is a game I did play. You can have Robin be either male or female, just like the game itself. I always pick female, I don’t like the male incarnation of Robin.

And also, in the Fire Emblem game you can make female Robin marry Chrom and thus Lucina could be their daughter. I imagine them as a big happy family. Now they are all fighters in Smash Bros.

But anyway, Robin is the most unique Fire Emblem fighter in Smash. While Robin has a sword, she has a lot of crazy magic on her side. She also doesn’t have a counter move.

Though a lot of it could be more powerful. I found the ability to trap an enemy with dark magic and regain your health a bit was actually pretty useful.

Her final smash is Pair Up which is like Smash 4. Her and Chrom use their combined forces to destroy a foe. Though it’s funny now since Chrom is a real fighter in Smash Bros.

When Kirby takes her power, he gets the ability to cast the thunder spell. Which can either be a fast but weak attack, a medium blast, or a super-charged blast of pure energy. It honestly should be more powerful.

Though I will say, Robin isn’t the greatest fighter in the roster. I’ve won a decent bit with her, but I had to struggle often to do so. I wish they’d increase the power of her moves and get rid of the spells needed to be refilled now and then by time.
