Video Game History: Spider-Man (Atari 2600)

While Spider-Man might of had many video game adventures, his self-titled Atari 2600 version was his first video-game outing. Parker Brothers released Marvel’s favorite superhero’s Atari 2600 game back in 1982.

Since the game was on the Atari 2600, it’s not hard to figure that this was the best graphics they could churn out. But it sorta looks like Spider-Man. The game-play featured level-after-level of Spiderman crawling up buildings to defuse a pumpkin-bomb left by his arch-nemesis the Green Goblin. But the Wall Crawler must also avoid obstacles and enemies or face a fall back down to Earth.

While I’m sure it was a decent attempt back in 1982, I doubt I would pay for it. While I love Spider-Man, I don’t have regrets about it probably never showing up on a retro-gaming service. It’s hard to stomach 2600 games anymore period.
