Bucky O’Hare (NES) Review

Bucky O'Hare NES Boxart Konami

I don’t remember much about Bucky O’Hare except my brother once dressed up as him for Halloween one year. So yeah, that’s what made me get the NES game which is apparently one of the few games they ever made.

It’s actually a little bit of a Mega Man clone. You can select the stage you want to complete, and you run around jumping and shooting. It’s not a direct copy, but you can easily see the inspiration. Most of what Konami took from Mega Man turned out quite well.

Well except for the platforming parts. Each level has some kind of ultra-annoying platforming challenge that’s either painful to play through or almost literally impossible to beat. If you can get passed that it’s a rather good game, I on the other hand didn’t dig the game as much as I had wanted to.

Score: 6 out of 10
