My wife recommended we watch The Adam Project the other day. I thought it was a TV show for some reason, not a new movie starring Ryan Reynolds for Netflix. His movies are usually pretty fun.

Ryan Reynolds plays Adam Reed, an Air Force pilot from the future whose plane is capable of time travel. After nearly being gunned down, he makes it to the past, but not far back enough.

He does quickly run into his smart mouthed former self, and actually needs him to complete his mission.

He’s looking for his wife Laura Shane. She went missing and was presumed dead in the year 2018. He definitely wants to find answers of her whereabouts.

Quickly on his tail is Maya Sorian. She was once his father’s business partner, but in the future, she seems to be a de facto dictator desperate about controlling all aspects of time travel.

The answers they seek must come from a man that’s already dead, his father and accidental inventor of time travel, Louis Reed.

My wife and I enjoyed The Adam Project on Netflix. It’s not the greatest film ever starring Ryan Reynolds, but I found it enjoyable enough. But it’s highly unlikely that it’s going to remain culturally relevant in science fiction like Star Wars or Star Trek decades from now.
