I was intrigued by Jungle Cruise last year when it came out, but I decided against seeing it in the theater. This is another Disney film based on rides from their theme parks. It worked out for Pirates of the Caribbean, but not so much for The Haunted Mansion. Luckily, this one is pretty good.

Emily Blunt plays Dr. Lily Houghton, a woman in the early 20th century. She wants to be taken seriously in the scientific community so, of course, she goes on a quest to find something magical. She hires a skipper named Frank to sail her into the unknown of the Amazon.

What Lily has is the key to the treasure, which looks like a simple arrowhead.

But the gold is really a tree that heals any wound or illness.

Unfortunately for them, a German prince and a team of cursed Spanish conquistadors are after them for the same goal.

Jungle Cruise isn’t as good as Pirates of the Caribbean, but it’s an enjoyable movie. Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt play good roles, but I didn’t buy any romantic chemistry between them. The movie had mixed results at the box office, but I hear Disney has a sequel in the works. I would be interested in seeing it.
