
Alucard is the game’s protagonist, so this was obvious. He originally appeared in Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, which was set centuries before. And in that original version, he looks very similar to what you would expect Dracula to look like. By the time of Symphony of the Night, Konami had remade him as a blonde pretty boy with long hair.

It was interesting to play as a character that wasn’t a Belmont the whole time. And be greeted by some of Dracula’s minions since they have a little love for Alucard versus an immediate hatred for the Belmonts.

He once again has to kill his father at the end. I guess with patricide, it’s a little easier when your dad keeps coming back about every century.

So obviously he lives at the end. He sees the destruction of his father and his father’s castle. I was glad to see him return in disguise for Aria of Sorrow.
