Jim Traficant was a Ohio congressman who was technically a Democrat. He was shunned by his own party when he voted in favor of a republican to be the Speaker of the House. He was expelled from the House after he was charged with multiple felonies including tax fraud, bribery, racketeering, and forcing his Congressional staff to be his maids and servants at his personal home in Ohio and on his houseboat in Washington DC.
