I vaguely remember when Sons of Anarchy came out on FX many years ago. It came to be a pretty notable show during my early adulthood, but I just never watched it. My wife and I were looking for a new series to start and we found it on Hulu. I was actually the one hesitant about watching it.

The story revolves around a motorcycle club (which is essentially a gang) called the Sons of Anarchy. Its vice president is Jax Teller who isn’t a bad guy at all. But he’s definitely a biker at heart, because he’s not afraid to deliver justice outside the judicial system.

Son of Anarchy’s president is Clay Morrow whom is Jax’s stepfather and while he can be a decent guy at heart, he is definitely corrupted at best. Leaders have to make hard decisions, but sometimes those choices can have very permanent effects.

The Sons of Anarchy are not the only gang in the local California area. Some are “friends” while others are straight out enemies. Clay has been smart enough to keep all these “politics” and “war” out of their local town of Charming but it keeps getting harder.

But since Clay’s main source of income is smuggling guns, he becomes a target for the ATF. One of the big wigs, June Stahl is absolutely dead set to put all the Sons of Anarchy behind bars in federal prison.

I will say it was interesting to see Katey Sagal in a role that was not a comedy like Married with Children or Futurama. She does quite well as Gemma, who is the mother of Jax Teller and the wife of Clay Morrow.

I also thought Tara was a pretty good love interest for Jax. I know the series is over but I don’t want to spoil myself too much. I’m not sure how happily these two go along with their romantic life, but I hope they continue their relationship.

I was surprised how much I got into Sons of Anarchy. It’s definitely not as good of a show as Game of Thrones was for HBO but I definitely looked forward to every episode after I got hooked. It may take me some time to watch the whole series, but I hope the whole show is as good from the start as it will be in the end.
I loved this show. If you haven’t watch Sopranos yet, you may like that one too.
