Melissa Warburton was one of my favorite cameos on the show, as she’s played by Winona Ryder. This is right before her career went south due to very poor life choices and it wasn’t until Stranger Things that she really made a comeback.

She plays a college friend of Rachel who miraculously bumps into her when she visits New York City.

Rachel brings up the fact that she made out with her during college, while both girls were drunk, I think. For which Melissa gaslights her when she brings up the story.

Which causes Rachel to kiss her again to prove a point.

But in fact, her denial of the whole events was just her protecting her heart because she loved Rachel but didn’t think that she loved her back. Rachel kissing her again gave her hope, which was quickly squashed. I did think this was rather sad. But in truth, Rachel would have been better off with Melissa than Ross, LOL.
