Pete Becker was one of Monica’s boyfriends on the sitcom Friends. I actually remembered him somewhat after the first watch but it was until I started watching it again that I realized this guy was Jon Favreau. He co-started the Marvel Cinematic Universe by directing Iron Man and then he went on to create the Mandalorian Star Wars TV series.

But his character on Friends, Pete Becker was a billionaire who happened to have a massive crush on Monica Geller. She didn’t actually seem to be attracted to him and he kept not taking “no” for an answer. This is actually a pretty concerning personality trait because men who think like this really see women as property. I could understand someone being young and dumb and not understanding, but you’d think a billionaire would actually be able to move on.

But sure enough, the right amount of money does convince anybody to do anything apparently.

And like future billionaires Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk, Pete Becker wanted to be a professional UFC fighter in his spare time.

And it doesn’t turn out well at all. And Monica breaks off the relationship because she can’t worry about somebody like that all the time. Monica sure really showed that her heart mattered over money.
