Bobby Boucher is one of my favorite Adam Sandler characters and I don’t think I’m alone. This lovable idiot is almost impossible to hate, unless you’re some kind of cynical movie critic or something.

His love and passion for water were completely unreal. Admirable but very very strange. And apparently it stemmed from his mother telling him that his father died from not having enough water.

And his mother prevents him from having a real life until the possibility of him being a football player starts.

For which a whole lifetime of built up rage makes Bobby a superstar on the defensive line.

While there’s no I in team, he does turn a pathetic college into the number one team.

And he marries Vicki Vallencourt (which I don’t understand the romance) and they do seem to be happy.
Lovable idiot is a perfect description. We still quote this movie after all these years. It’s a classic.
