Kevin Gerrity probably isn’t a hated character by most people who have watched the film… but if you really think about it he was kind of a scumbag. I also remember this as Jon Stewart right before he really got big with The Daily Show, as he still had his natural hair color before he went gray.

He’s Sonny’s roommate and he gets engaged to his girlfriend whom Sonny hates. He leaves for China right before his unknown son Julian shows up at the door and I guess you can blame his absence initially on denial.

But he manages to save Sonny by not pressing charges by being Julian’s biological father. Which by the way, would not actually work out in real life. Because it’s not about the parentage that was the crime, it was Sonny pretending and defrauding the state of New York that was the issue.

So he reluctantly tries not to be father and finally becomes one once the court case is over. I guess it’s a happy ending, but if you really think about it…
