Alhambra was a castle that became the royal court of Ferdinand and Isabella during the first years of a united (Christian) Spain. It was originally an Islamic Castle. It was built in 1238 by Muhammad I Ibn al-Ahmar, the first Nasrid emir and founder of the Emirate of Granada.
