Things I Like: Dale Ballard (Young Sheldon)

Craig T. Nelson as Dale Ballard Young Sheldon TV Series

Dale Ballard is a minor yet fairly notable character in Young Sheldon. Showing up about midway through the series and staying until the very end. Sitcom legend Craig T. Nelson plays him. I actually heard that he was offered the role that Ed O’Neill took in Modern Family and fumbled it by making controversial comments and asking for way too much money.

But like his most famous role on TV, Dale is a coach. But instead of football, he’s teaching little league baseball while selling sports equipment on weekdays. And he ends up clashing heads with Meemaw when he originally doesn’t want to put Missy Cooper on his all boys team.

But strangely enough, he becomes her next and final boyfriend of the series. Though it’s not an entirely perfect match.

Dale is a very grumpy and headstrong old man without much filter in his head. I’m not surprised that these two broke up once but eventually got back together

I also thought it was wrong when he fired Georgie, though quickly reversed the decision. Despite the conflict, Georgie actually did trust him more than his own father when he was in trouble when he got Mandy pregnant.
