Things I Like: Alear (Fire Emblem: Engage)

Alear Fire Emblem Engage Nintendo Switch

Alear is the latest protagonist of Fire Emblem and just like the rest of the recent predecessors, you can choose which gender Alear will be. I picked female and I did like her. But I did feel she’s more more simple than Byleth from Three Houses.

She seems to be a princess of a good kingdom. She’s great with a sword and a powerhouse on the battlefield. And when her mother is slain, things get even tougher.

In a shocking twist of events, she was originally an evil-ish pawn of her father Sombron. Seems a bit too easy.

But Queen Lumera adopts her and brings her to the good side. Which made the mix of red and blue hair finally make sense.

And I thought her sacrifice (which ironically saved her) was pretty touching. I did like how she bonded so much with her sister Veyle too.

Her battle against her evil dragon dad was anticlimactic. Both the battle and the cutscene. Should’ve been more epic and surprising.

Does make sense for her to become the new Queen since Lumera was gone for good. I’m curious if this is the end of Alear’s journey in Nintendo Land or she might be in a sequel game.
