Things I Like: Constance “Connie” Tucker (Young Sheldon)

Annie Potts as Connie Meemaw Tucker In Young Sheldon TV Series

Connie Tucker was actually my favorite character on The Young Sheldon series. Technically she was played by another woman first on The Big Bang Theory, and the two Meemaws (despite being the same character) just seem to be much different people.

From all the stories of his Meemaw on The Big Bang Theory, technically it’s the one on that show that’s more accurate. That grandmother seemed to be more the baking cookies type, while the Young Sheldon Memaw is definitely more grittier and not as comforting to her grandchildren as you would expect. Despite the whole moon pie relationship, the Young Sheldon series kind of drops the ball about establishing the bond between the two, as it’s implied in The Big Bang Theory.

Though, she’s always on the good side of her grandchildren for the most part. The only really antagonistic relationships she has is with their father George Cooper. As she’s still kind of upset that he got Mary pregnant when she was a teenager.

It was kind of interesting to see her getting into illegal businesses. And like always, that eventually bit her in the butt.

I will say that she should have told Mandy about Georgie being underaged. Especially after catching them drinking at a Mexican restaurant.

But she did really well supporting Mandy during her pregnancy and it makes total sense that she would name her own daughter after Meemaw. Though they call her CeeCee instead of Connie or Constance.

Her romances on the show were always so up and down. John Sturgis was her first boyfriend that we see on screen and it just didn’t make a lot of sense. She eventually ends up with Dale albeit unmarried, and it doesn’t quite feel right. But when she loses her house, she doesn’t have much of a choice anyway…
