The All-Night Mask is one of MANY masks you can find in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on Nintendo 64 and 3DS. It’s far from the most powerful mask in the game, but it’s a neat little item.

Obtaining the All-Night Mask is fairly straightforward—after triggering certain events, you simply need enough Rupees to buy it from the shop. Once you’ve gathered the required funds, you can complete the purchase and add the mask to your collection.

It does look pretty creepy on Link, but the mask actually serves a useful purpose: it prevents him from falling asleep. In most video games, you don’t have to worry about your character nodding off, but in Majora’s Mask, certain storylines trigger when Link falls asleep.

With the All-Night Mask equipped, you can stay awake indefinitely and fully hear the Old Ladies’ backstories, learning more about the game’s lore than you otherwise would.

As an added bonus, completing those stories rewards you with pieces of Heart. And that’s really all the All-Night Mask does for Link—keeping him awake so you can soak up more of Termina’s mysteries.
