Things I Like: Talim (Soul Calibur II)

Talim was one of the newest characters introduced in Soul Calibur II, as she did not appear in the original Soul Edge/Blade nor in the first Soul Calibur. She’s actually one of the shortest characters in the entire series, and I had no idea she was supposed to be Filipina.

I think the reason for that might be because she wields elbow blades, which are known as tonfas in Japan. They’re pretty cool weapons, but they definitely don’t have the same range as swords or axes, which can leave her somewhat vulnerable.

I’ve always noticed while playing as her that she relies heavily on maintaining momentum. And if you ever disrupt her rhythm, that’s when things start going downhill fast.

But for a small girl from the Philippines, she sure packs quite a punch when her attacks land. It doesn’t take much skill to land solid hits on both CPUs and human players alike.

All that said, she’s definitely not my favorite character in Soul Calibur II. I’d probably rank her somewhere in the middle, but definitely not near the top.
