Things I Like: Cassandra (Soul Calibur II)

Cassandra was one of my favorite characters in Soul Calibur II, and I had played the first game, so I knew she was meant to replace her sister, Sophitia. Ironically, they still included Sophitia as an unlockable character anyway.

Cassandra plays almost exactly like her sister, if not identically. She uses a sword and shield, along with the notoriously short skirt. Though for players who didn’t like that design choice, the developers toned it down by adding pantyhose.

Even though her shield is technically useless (since all characters can block) I still think she’s a cool character, just like her sister, with her sword-and-shield combo. However, that setup does limit her a bit in terms of range.

She’s fairly quick and has a solid move set, so it’s hard to complain much about her.

She’s not my absolute favorite in the game, and I technically prefer her sister since she’s the original character. But I’m glad Cassandra continued to appear in later entries in the series instead of being stuck in this one iteration forever. Apparently, she was even mentioned in the original game, so it’s pretty cool they followed up on that two sequels later.
