Bushido Blade 2 was released for the PlayStation in 1998, one year after the original game. It was again developed by Light Weight, the same studio responsible for the first Bushido Blade.

Unlike the original, which was known for its grounded realism, the sequel presents a stronger narrative and a more cinematic execution.

The game introduces anime style character endings, giving it a more narrative driven tone than the first title.

The story establishes the conflict between two rival clans: the Narukagami and the Shainto.

The game shifts in tone, leaning further into supernatural elements, such as characters surviving otherwise lethal strikes during story based battles.

The sequel removed several of the original game’s non fighting features.

The combat still utilizes the no health bar system where a single well placed strike can kill instantly.

The game was re released in 2008 for the PlayStation Network.
