I had falsely remembered this character as Ursa, the dark Kryptonian woman from Superman II. However, her name is actually Faora Ul. In the comics, she is sometimes depicted as the wife or lover of General Zod. Interestingly, Ursa is usually the one shown imprisoned with Zod, despite her character often having a strong hatred for men. Because of that dynamic, Faora-Ul always seemed like a more logical fit for the story to me. While Faora is far from the most important character in the universe, I feel she was written fairly well for her role.

In the DC Extended Universe, she is imprisoned in the Phantom Zone alongside General Zod. Much like him, she lacks typical human emotions, displaying only a cold determination and a desire to help rebuild their lost race.

When she arrives on Earth with the powers of a goddess, Faora Ul uses her super strength, speed, and flight to cause as much death and destruction as her master desires.

She even fights Superman one on one, and for most of the battle she actually seems to have the upper hand. In one scene, she brags that her lack of human emotion makes her superior, since she is not weakened by the need to be sympathetic.

After all these years, I only vaguely remembered how she died and had to look it up. Since Superman is traditionally not supposed to kill, and because there was already so much controversy surrounding the DCEU Superman killing General Zod, the writers chose a different ending for her. She is on a ship when an American soldier makes a bold sacrifice, triggering an explosion involving alien technology that ultimately destroys her. Seems too easy in my opinion.
