Echo Ganon is one of the most notable antagonists in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on the Nintendo Switch, but his role is much smaller than you might expect. As far as I can tell, it is always Echo Ganon and never the true Ganon, which makes it wild that Null is able to turn the series’ most iconic villain into a summonable echo.

You first fight him in the prologue of the game as Link. At this fixed point, you have plenty of hearts, a strong sword, and a really cool triple shot arrow with the bow. The fight is not exactly like the ending of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but it comes pretty close.

Link defeats him, but Echo Ganon manages to summon a rift and drag the young hero down with him. Honestly, Nintendo missed a golden opportunity to call this game The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link.

Later on, after completing the first three dungeons and making your way through the heavily corrupted Hyrule Castle, you get to face Echo Ganon again, this time as Princess Zelda.

This fight brings a lot of deja vu from the final battle against Ganon in A Link to the Past. However, your ability to use a sword and bow is far more limited than it was with Link. Because of that, you are forced to rely heavily on echoes, though many of mine were swatted away pretty easily by this towering opponent.

Since I was already familiar with his moveset from A Link to the Past, I found this echo boss to be fairly easy overall. I was a little disappointed that he was not the final boss, but I am also the kind of person who complains when Ganon is the final boss of every Zelda game. So clearly, I can never be completely happy.
