Things I Like: Slime Eye (Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom)

Slime Eye is the miniboss of the Lanayru Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on the Nintendo Switch. Its only other appearance in the Zelda series was in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. It actually looks quite different here, so I am a little surprised they did not just give it a new name.

If I remember correctly, this was the miniboss that gave me the most trouble in the entire game. You have to freeze it before you can deal real damage, and that was my first mistake. I did not figure that out right away.

Once you understand the mechanic, you quickly realize that it splits into smaller versions of itself until there are none left. The larger forms are definitely the most annoying part of the fight, since they are harder to manage and deal more damage.

I was also completely unaware that the green pool of water in the arena restores your hearts. I did not use it at all during the battle. I technically had enough health potions, but I was still a little frustrated with myself afterward.

After a few setbacks, I was able to defeat it. It was far from my favorite fight in the game, but like many of the bosses and minibosses in Echoes of Wisdom, I ended up enjoying it more than I expected.
