Echo Link is a recurring sub-boss in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom for the Nintendo Switch. I guess he counts as a single character. I’m not totally sure if he technically dies (like if he just reforms) or if they’re simply clones made from the same magic. Either way, I’m counting all of his appearances as one individual character.

When the real Link fell into the dark abyss, I initially thought he might be coming back to help. Instead, it turned out to be an evil Echo clone created by Null. The first battle against him is genuinely scary because his arsenal is A LOT better than yours. You basically have to play hide-and-seek while throwing Echoes that might actually deal some damage. That first fight was definitely the most challenging for me.

He returns later in the Gerudo Desert’s dungeon, where he shoots arrows at you. This fight is actually pretty fun, and I never really felt like I was in serious danger of dying. I’m also fairly sure this is where you get the bow and arrow afterward, which makes it a rewarding encounter.

Finally, near the end of the game, he starts throwing Bombchus at you in another dungeon. I’ll admit, I got hit by those little suckers more than a few times. But I was well stocked on health potions, so he never really had a chance of defeating me.

After that, I’m pretty sure he was officially gone, leaving behind a new ability you didn’t really need. Still, I guess it’s the thought that counts.
