Things I Hate: Daria (TV Series)

In the late 90s, Beavis and Butt-Head came to an end, and the two successors to it technically were King of the Hill, which was done for Fox by creator Mike Judge, and Daria, which took an existing character with an entirely different new series creator and team and definitely a different type of tone. The main demographic of the show was COMPLETELY different from the guys who enjoyed Beavis and Butt-Head.

Daria Morgendorffer wasn’t the most commonly recurring character on Beavis and Butt-Head, but I do remember her a decent bit. She definitely served as a foil to the main two characters.

But when she got her own show, Beavis and Butt-Head were nowhere to be found, and the quality of animation was definitely much better than Beavis and Butt-Head and even King of the Hill.

I don’t really remember a lot about the show because I didn’t care to watch enough of it, even though I wanted to like it. Funny enough, my wife Jessica was actually a big fan of the show, and while I guess Daria would have been about seven years older than my wife, the two of them have some personality similarities.

I guess I would probably appreciate the show a little bit more as I’ve matured, but back in the late 90s and early 2000s, when I wanted to watch more Beavis and Butt-Head, I was kind of offended the show even existed. Apparently Mike Judge didn’t have any real attachment to the character, so he was happy to let MTV take over while he made another television classic for Fox with propane and propane accessories. I’ll tell you hwat.
