The King of Hyrule has appeared in many different forms throughout the Legend of Zelda franchise. It is only in the more recent games that he has received more attention as a character. This particular king does not quite measure up to the memorable version from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, but he is still a likable character.

There is nothing especially unique about him, as he mostly fits the traditional portrayal of the King of Hyrule. One small difference is that he has two advisors, General Wright and Minister Lefte. Unfortunately, both of them are fairly forgettable, so they do not add much to the story.

Early in the game, the king and his advisors fall into one of Null’s dark rifts and are replaced by evil Echo clones. Null’s strategy here actually feels smarter than many of Ganondorf’s usual attempts to conquer Hyrule.

About halfway through the story, you liberate Hyrule Castle and free the real king from the dark magic that had imprisoned him. From that point on, Princess Zelda no longer needs to hide her identity.

The king survives the events of the game and is there at the end to congratulate Zelda and Link for defeating Null. It is hard to say whether the game will receive a direct sequel, but if it does, his role will probably remain fairly similar.
