Polka-Dot Man, better known as Abner Krill, was one of the strangest characters in The Suicide Squad. Apparently, director James Gunn thought it was hilarious that this character existed in the comics and wanted to include him in the movie. Even as something of a nerd myself, I think I only vaguely remembered knowing about Polka-Dot Man before watching the film.

He has a very troubled past, as his mother experimented on him and his siblings in an attempt to turn them into superheroes. He eventually killed her in self-defense and suffers from PTSD as a result. He was sent to prison after becoming a villain, though the exact details were never made entirely clear, if I remember correctly.

He is recruited for Task Force X and becomes a notable member of the team once they head into the jungle, though we do not actually see him fight for a while.

That is because his powers involve shooting literal polka dots at people. Apparently, he has to imagine his enemies as his mother in order to use his abilities effectively. While that sounds ridiculous on paper, it actually has quite an impact when you see it play out on screen.

He takes part in the giant battle against Starro and imagines the enormous starfish as his mother right before launching his attack. Moments later, he is crushed to death, and that is the end of his character. It is a bit sad, but if anybody was going to end up as cannon fodder, it was definitely him.
