Things I Like: Johnny (2 Broke Girls)

Johnny was one of the more notable early characters and one of Max’s boyfriends on the television series 2 Broke Girls. He entered the show early on, and despite doing her dirty a few times, he was still a decent love interest for Max.

He starts out as a bartender whom Max knows as a friend, and looking back at the series, it becomes pretty apparent that no other love interest was as compatible with Max personality-wise, at least in my opinion.

One of my pet peeves about 2 Broke Girls was knowing full well that virtually every love interest on the show was destined to become an extinguished flame, no matter how brightly it burned. Just when Max and Johnny seemed like they were supposed to be together, it turned out he had a girlfriend, a fiancée, or honestly, I’m not even quite sure myself.

But like magnets, they kept getting drawn back to each other despite all the obvious red flags, most of which were coming from Johnny. To be honest, he really should have stayed loyal to his fiancée if he had already proposed to her. In my opinion, Max ignored Johnny’s infidelity for far too long.

Somewhere before the series even came close to ending, they finally parted ways. I think they tried the whole “let’s be friends” thing, but just like in real life, they never saw each other again. If the writers had done a better job planning the series, they should have saved a character like Johnny for the end of the show rather than introducing him at the very beginning.
